Evening “Vespers” Ceremony and

Potluck Dinner with Katie Adams

[space height=”15″]

“Vespers” is a ceremony that Our Sacred Circle will celebrate on the eve of March 25th. at 6:00 p.m. Traditionally the liturgical day begins at sunset and Vespers is the first service of “the day” – honoring the Eternal Light in each o us and welcoming the upcoming day through prayers, chants, and hymns. Moment to moment, life to death to life, how do we move in and out of the Light and of the Darkness? How do we cultivate our Light, our great heart of compassion – the portal between these worlds? As this is such an amazing time of year devoted to rebirth and transformation in so many traditions, we will also celebrate the Spring Equinox, which occurs on March 21st – recognized by many traditions as the start of the New Year and also as one of the year’s four great solar festivals.

It is a time of balance when the day and the night are of approximately equal length. This month is sacred in it’s dedication to the great mother goddesses of love and compassion: the Virgin Mary, Venus, Aphrodite, Astarte, Isis, and Cybele. It is the time in mythological story telling that Persephone, the quintessence of springtime, returns from six months of darkness in the Underworld to her mother Demeter, the goddess of the earth. Once again we are assured that life continues with the wondrous flowering, birthing, warming and planting of life.

Please join in our celebration! Please bring a free standing candle and a small metaphorical offering to honor your place in the Circle of Light. Please also bring a dish to share for the pot luck dinner after the Sacred Circle.
